time to invest....

Postby Bircher » Sun Sep 04, 2011 4:46 pm

well ive decided its time to update my loadout, so ive decided to ask your opinions on what to get...

so, ive had my echo1 stag 15 for almost 2 years with no upgrades or new parts besides externals, so ive decided its time to upgrade, so im debating on two things

option 1: take my AEG into AONW for an opinion on what needs upgrading/replacing(internal)

option 2: invest in a KWA M16

option 3: replace my old walmart vest and buy a CONDOR plate carrier and than put a tightbore in my m4, replace gearbox, fuse, and spring

EDIT: im going for what will be the cheapest but more benifical(typo?) to my budget.

and my budget is rougly 200$ unless i invest in option 2, in whitch case ill purchase it later

note: my m4 used to shoot a good 150ft, now it shoots like 75ft, would that be a spring problem or just worn out internals, and i use .23 bbs

Option 3

This. Either ALICE or M56 kit over Condor is an amazing idea.

Buying an AEG is never an investment, since as soon as you fire that first shot, it sells for less than you bought it for and it will always sell for less than you put into it.
That being said, Do you like the way your replica is working? Does it suit the way you play airsoft? Is it able to keep up with the way you play airsoft? If you answer yes to those, then you don't need a new gun. If the answer is no, then you should figure out WHAT it is you want your replica to do, do the math on the parts it would take to do that and keep this cost in mind. On the other hand, you sound like you don't like your current rig, Again, look into kit items, price things out, and get the cost for what you WANT. See how much scaling back you can do and still have a functioning kit (instead of 5 mag pouches, maybe for now you can do with 3. Since Kit can be bought a bit at a time, this is a pretty easy thing to do)
Then price out new KWA riffles. After you have all 3 costs come back and give us all the information, and we can give you and educated suggest.
Instead of shit like

What bothers you most about what you use right now?

If your gun isn't performing how you'd like, spend it on that.

If your gear isn't how you'd like (uncomfortable gear is horrible for long games and I'm always investing in gear before other stuff in airsoft), then get the better gear.

Go into AONW and try out the different vests to see what is comfortable.

OVerall, $200 can get you a TM UZI. Just sayin

The AP Classified section is flowing over with post-summer play season gear and guns waiting to be purchased for cheap. That's a great way to buy and sell your way to a comfortable, broken in, inexpensive, and effective loadout.
My advice? Invest in a primary that you really like the feel of, and get some gear that is comfortable and serves a purpose (i.e. no zip up gadget pouch that loses keys in swamps; looking at you, Sir). Performance and results will generally follow your happiness in this sport.

Good gadget pouches will have a D ring or something that you can dummy cord small, sensitive items to.

I suggest the BDS Tactical Small Utility Pouch. Thing is awesome.

"ITS A TRAP!": Airsoft Investments.

The foundation of your kit should be your AEG and support items that go with it. If you gun is working great...your charger and batteries are reliable, and of course you have plenty of reliable magazines and ammo.....then move to the next options.

Gear is the last part of the equation, it's the least important part. I know by saying this, it's like a prostitute calling a slut dirty...because I have plenty of gear...but, it didn't start out that way.

You dirty, dirty whore! You sir should rethink your statement! We all know gear is the most important part of airsoft. BB throwing is how real ninjas play the game!

This.

AlICE kit is pretty goddamn win, and G&P AEGs are also pretty goddamn win.

All of my guns are broken and I have enough gear to outfit an infantry squad.

Also, this is an awesome pouch:

Haha, I don't mean to be all simplistic after these guys posted their answers but I think I would go with option 3... Besides everyone knows airsoft is about looking beast! So I would invest in new gear first. :D
