What's story with G36c cylinder heads? There are V3 heads and then there are ones that look like V6 heads and then there are long and short cylinder heads.. I'm confused

Uh, unless I've been missing something for a while they just use standard V3 cylinder heads.

Alright thanks. Just noticed that there were "long type" G36 cylinder heads as well

Just make sure you match a bore up or non-bore up cylinder head with the proper cylinder.

A non-bore up cylinder won't work with a bore up cylinder head, and vice versa. (Almost all AEG's come with non-bore up parts, just fyi).

No need for bore-up with a 247mm barrel ;)

Well, off I go. Hopefully I can hit the 50rps mark without going over $150 :D

The SHS one on ehobbyasia is also like that. I was wondering this too, and I'm still confused... My friend who is a pretty knowledgeable tech that says you can use V2 cylinder heads in AK's and it's fine, and that a V2 cylinder head came out of a friend of ours CA G36e. Which also adds to the confusion...

Read something about JG's hop system being different from CA's that requires a larger cylinder head to work efficiently.. Any ideas?

In general, most V2 and V3 cylinder heads are the same. You can use a V2 in most V3 applications.

Some V3 guns have a long air nozzle, (AUG) and companies make cylinder heads with longer ports to provide additional support (and attempt to give air less room to leak, perhaps). Other than the length of the nozzle port, the Systema AUG and Systema V3 are the same, and are almost identical to the V2.

Some V3 spring guides have a bump or block on the front. This fits a notch in some V3 mechboxes. Not all V3 mechboxes have this bump or notch, but some do.

Given all that, the standard V2 design will fit into almost any V2 or V3 gearbox. It's one-way compatibility, though. Longer cylinder heads or notched ones aren't backwards compatible.

My guess is the different designs you see are for marketing or just for product recognition (i.e. different colors and cutout designs).

This is my thought. The G36 uses a long(er) nozzle correct?
