ECHO 1 Full Metal Platinum Series M4-RIS Airsoft Gun
@ http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=6091

Just wondering if this is a solid gun.

What kind of battery should i use?
It has a crane stock for holding the battery which i believe is small so can only hold a 9.6v 1600 mAh NIMH Nunchuck battery or a small 11.1v buffertube style lipo which is 1200 mAh.

I have never owned a AEG before. Only spring powered sniper rifles.

So that is why i am asking which would be a better battery to use.

also while i am here should i upgrade the stock 6.04mm barrel to a longer 6.03mm or 6.01 barrel? how much farther and accurate would it shoot?

Thanks for your help :D

In my humble opinion, for that amount of money buy something else. That's the price of KWA's M4 RIS, and KWA has a much better reputation in the community then Echo 1. I enjoy my G&P M4, My friend has a KWA M4, I have an Echo 1 MP5, and you'll be happier with a better brand. I've seen G&G, G&P, KWA, and Classic Army guns perform well.

The stickies in the AEG section cover topics such as barrels and internals, as well as AEG brands extensively, I'd look over those again before you purchase. Since you said you're new to AEGs I'd stay away from lipoly batteries as well. They're getting better, but for starting out there's more precautions you have to take when using and charging them. I've had no issues running 9.6v NiMH batteries in my M4, and I find with a rate of fire any faster it would just make me spend more money on bbs.

KWA should change from "KWA U.S.A" to "KWA ALL THE WAY" because they are so awesome. I have a new KWA SR12 2GX and it's some hot shit. G&P is great also. That's my 2 cents.

One more thing: Read the stickies. They answer all your questions.

One note about KWA, the out-of-box performance (in my experience) is great. The guns can be temperamental with mags though. Don't let this discourage you, but if you go with KWA and develop mag seating issues, take some time to find a mag that works well with your gun.

the kWA m4 RIS looks outstanding i think i have changed my vote on which one im going to get.

would you guys get a precision barrel? it comes with a 6.05mm barrel that is 394mm long.

might put a 6.03mm longer barrel for increase accuracy and range? what do you guys think?

Personally I would see how you do without it. My friend has an old stock KWA barrel and has fine accuracy. It's just as easy to add a tightbore on to a later order, and if you don't need it you save $30 now.

I've had no problems with 9.6v NiMH. The internals can take the stress of the 11.1v lipoly, but it will wear out your internals faster, and the faster rate of fire will deplete mags real quick.

A friend of mine got himself a lipo for his SR25, and it performed very well. holds a charge longer than a standard battery 5 times its size, the only downside is that you have to get a special charger for them, and if you use a M16 style stock it can be hard to find the thing it's so small. ;)

KWA M4's are awesome guns to start with. The regular M4A1 and M4 CQB will allow for better capacity when dealing with LiPo's IMO.

As far as LiPo's go, I've been using Hyperion 7.4v and 11.1v batteries.

I'm currently using a Hyperion 7.4v 2100mah 25C in my TM M4 SOCOM. Stock, the gun shoots up to 17 rounds per second.

KWA M4's shoot faster and harder. I really can't say anything bad about the KWA M4's....its a Safe way to go and is well worth the money.

I'm not a big fan of the crane stocked KWA rifles though. To each their own. :)
