Systema gear boxes

Postby Sho Nuff » Sun Sep 25, 2011 4:07 pm

I basically know if anyone has experience with them and how easy they are to "drop in" to a G&P w/ magpul body. Are they worth the $? Not looking for random opinions, please have personal experience with them. Thanks.

Which ones are you talking about? There are a couple different types: Systema Complete, Systema Revolution and the Systema Energy

No, it's not worth it. The only sytema part I'd consider worth it is the bucking. You never need to buy a complete gearbox unless you don't have one to start out with.

I've played with one Systema drop in (think it was the Energy series). Never. Again. Thing is not worth the money at all. Like League said, the bucking (and nozzle imo) are the only Systema parts worth having. If you don't have a gearbox already, get a Lonex complete gearbox. Those are the nicest things I have seen.

You also have to realize that when dropping a gearbox into a metal body, some modification may be required.

It's better not to get drop in gearboxes. Building a gearbox out parts from different manufactures who are good for specific parts will give the best performance. It will also be cheaper.

Then you end up with this lego build of a gun, with mismatching parts and it always ends up making it less effective in the end. It's best to match compression parts, and match drive train parts EXCEPT the piston. That thing is pretty universal :D

I agree with the lonex gearbox comment for if you need a complete gearbox. Lonex/Bravo parts are VERY nice... I specifically like their pistons, gears, hopup chambers, and barrels.

I purchased the Systema Mecha drop in gearbox a few years back. Did exactly as advertised, which was dropped in. I honestly wouldn't shell out the money for one again though.

They're not worth it. They're no more reliable than many stock gearboxes, and in some cases less reliable (I've seen a lot of Systema helical gears fail)

Have a Systema M150 gearbox and High Torque motor with a Systema 9.6V 2400Mah NiCad in my M4 for 5 years now.

Not a single problem.

Put it in a Systema Knights SR-16 M5 body.

Of course I am sure that when it was shipped it was sprinkled with love for me.

I have never had a Set of Systema Gears fail when they were properly installed.
