Question about; Ares H&K g36c gearbox

Postby Sandol » Sat Oct 08, 2011 7:01 pm

After i saw a video on youtube, i thought it had a version 2 gearbox, because the guy said: "you could probably fit a version 3 spring guide...".
Recently, in a review, the reviewer said it had a version 3 gearbox. It looks like v3 gearboxes are used in most g36 airsoft rifles anyway... However, i bought parts for the gun before i watched the review. I've posted here before, and i haven't got anything, but problems with my gun. I fitted in a systema energy piston head ver. 2 and cylinderhead ver 2., and desired parts: Tappet plate and tappet spring, which was needed to repair my gun.

Mainly, my air nozzle was stuck, because my tappet plate was, and i don't now why. When i ordered the tappetplate, the website did't reveal it's gearbox version combability, so i thought it should fit anyway. It was a reinforced tappetplate from kingsarms. When i got it, it said ver. 3 and i thought "sh*t", it wont fit, even though it was terribly similar to the one i had previously. I tried to fit it in, and i noticed that when the sector gear was inserted, it forced the tappet plate up. After almost an hour of thinking and fitting, i decided to do a stupid mod, which i did't expect to work, so i cuttet the end of the tappet plate to look similar to the old i had. I put the shells and gears together and it was still stuck... Then i tested to fit my tappetplate + air nozzle on my old cylinderhead, and with all gear and guts and it actually worked! The problem i have now is that the air nozzle goes to far back, so my bb's can't enter the hop up chamer or the nozzle does not and will either doublle feed or not make enough seal to shoot the bb's out of the bucking. All of this obviously happend because the tappetplate was modified! It could be, that my recently bought cyllinder head which was labelled for ver. 2 gearbox, caused my tappet plate to get stuck?

I'm mostly comfortable to work on my gearbox now, but to fit the tappetplate seemed like a bi*ch! Also, the darn plate forced my bushing and shim over the sectorgear almost out of it's position, making it extra difficuilt to lock the shells together. Please don't kill me for what i'm about to say! I personally think the whole idea and mechanics of tappetplate to airnozzle is weak and fragile in all airsoftguns as it is nowadays hehe xD. And i don't have any ideas on how to improve the technology!

I'm just so tired of troubleshooting my gun, so im very close to order a new, different gun! What makes me worried, is that some day, i have to open a gearbox from that gun... Neither does it make me feel better, when i now that my gun is one of the easiest one to disasseble and assemble...

So what do you think? If i buy i new tappetplate that fits my unknown gearbox version, will it fix the problem? Or should i buy a new gun OR should i stay the f*ck away from airsoft as a hobby and just buy a cheap JG gun with a 7.2 v nimh and use it as long as it lasts?

Thanks for all answers!

V2 =/= V3.

Get a V3 CH and a V3 tappet for the G36.

If you don't know that, I think you should probably take it to AONW..

If you are still stubborn I can point you in the right direction if needed, however I strongly advise you to just get professional help.

Oh and all G36's use V3's. Short motor, motor cage, and those strange gears that the cutoff lever uses.

EDIT: 7.2v NiMh? You know.. I have to ask.. Where are you getting your info regarding tech work and airsoft in general?

7.2 v nimh was just a joke =P.
I've watched various videos at mechbox.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_JJ_2P5SAs is a good video of working on the gearbox! If you stop it at 5min, he says the thing about the spring guide, which confused me alittle.
Thats mostly my references, as reaing on forums.

You're watching Kilo's videos.. That explains everything...

Start lurking forums. Assimilate knowledge. Some good ones are ASF (sometimes), here, or AM
