No. an FFL is required for Firearms ( see ORS for description) and other certain items. Air soft falls into none of these categories.

A thought occurred to me, do any of you have connections with a larger church that might allow the use ( free) of one of their multi function type areas? greater Portland area would probably be best.

1,000,000 insurance is generally the minimum, not that uncalled for.

How about a fairgrounds pavilion? I know the St Helens fair grounds rents their pavilion allot, they require $500,000 liability coverage, but if you have homeowners insurance, that can be endorsed for the day for little to no extra cost.

I'd rather see a $0 entry fee for an event like this, if there's no games offered. You get more of the general public that way, newbies will come check out gear and the sellers will have a larger audience to sell to. You can make up for the cost of a facility by holding cash raffles. Insurance costs are minor. Usually the most expensive thing with a facility is the rental fee itself. But there's plenty of ways you can cover that cost without having to charge a fee at the door.

Sounds like a great idea! To answer the question, I'd like to see airsoft and food vendors. Some raffles for various gear - a few guns, some tac vests, maybe a 10,000 thing of ammo, etc. Definitely some demonstrations and classes on how to shoot, swap out a gearbox, dial in a scope, etc. Maybe have some competitive shooting matches and the winner gets $50 or something. Just make it fun and informative for the public, and hopefully we'll get a lot of new people to our events!

Yes like charging your venders to have a booth. That's what my mom does when she has her wedding shows. Every vender will have a booth and if you have like 2 or 3 sizes to choose from at different costs you can fit lots of venders and by charging them you'll probably make more then the cost of Insurance and Renting the space.

My mom uses the State Fair Grounds, and the warehouse there is HUGE! So you can fit probably 20 Venders with small 12x6 booth areas. Just a thought, it works good for her and it would probably work good for this since its basically the same idea except for the theme.

You're talking two different things. A swap meet is a bunch of people selling their own crap lying around, used stuff. Vendors, raffles, give aways are more like an airsoft show or something with new items, and business who sell it.

Both would be fun, but i think a swap meet and donations to collect the money for costs would be the best at first.

Yeah... NO. If I want to buy a vendor's stuff, I can go online and buy it. I would prefer to meet up with some people and buy some stuff on the (reasonably) cheap!
If $400,000 a year is low-class, I'm totally f***ed.

How about someone just create it and they will come. This ongoing debate stuff generally never goes anywhere. Do what others have done in the past successfully and you should be successful.
