Just thought I would make a bump to the thread.

It's among us, and quite beautiful in my opinion.

According to initial reviews on Arnie's:

1. Major feed issues.
2. It really does only hold a stick battery.
3. Hop(when it actually feeds) is basically useless.
4. Magazine can't keep up with a lipo.

All those things are kind of keeping in tune with other SAW platforms..

They aren't meant to be lasers nor run off of 11.1's. Slower ROF and less accuracy is needed.

Maybe not intended but it works

In my mind, there's nothing wrong with running this gun with the 1500mah 9.6v included.

In airsoft, this gun is probably going to show the traits of a crossover weapon, that is, it looks a bit like an assault rifle/support weapon hybrid to me.

You have lighter weight than SAWs, but less rounds (1100 compared to 2400) and smaller battery capacity. The user could potentially play more agressively, but they may be forced to change the battery almost every time they reload/change the magazine. Like I said before, I never found the weight of M249s to be a problem in airsoft. But this extended reload element could add a fun characteristic to the game. We should do quick barrel changes too. Just kidding.

Some hop-ups are weaker than others; my SAW is guilty of not lifting BBs very high. Things could be done to overcome this in the AMG, assuming it's not a custom hop up chamber?

Plenty of auto winding mags (if not most until very recently) aren't going to keep up with a lipo. I would much prefer a support weapon with a rate of fire that can actually be sustained over time (especially with 1100 round capacity), as opposed to LiPo-ing all my rounds down range in a hurry.

The feeding issues sound worrisome. If it has feeding problems with the stock nutsack, that would be extremely annoying.

So there I am in my defense of the AMG, which I have never actually used. I'm excited to see more info on it.

Saw that too. Sounds like the usual stuff from Ares.

Yup, and winners like the poster above you will continue to provide Ares the capital to continue to pump out steaming shit burgers like this LMG.

BTW-if your SAW sucks as bad as you say, try working on it. My CA SAW shoots better than 90% of the guns on the field.

This has all the hallmarks of a STAR/Ares support weapon:
1. Shit internals with proprietary essential parts
2. Non-functional box mag
3. Garbage hopup.

i own several AREs guns, and am happy with them. i have also owned several i was not happy with. after my experiences with my Mk43 i would absolutely buy another AREs gun, although i would research it first so i knew what i was getting.

You're the first person I've heard of in 5 years who had anything good to say about an ARES support gun. 99% have been pissed about the lack of performance and minimal parts available when their weapon inevitably breaks down. I would be willing to postulate that your gun is the opposite of a lemon, a "cherry" if you will.

The overwhelming majority of users have nothing but trouble with their STAR/ARES guns. I standby my assertation that their guns are almost universally nonfunctional and unreliable.

it sounds like they are basing their opinions on the STAR/AREs M249s. those things were shit sandwiches, i don't think ive ever seen one that worked reliably longer than a month

the mk43 was completely revamped it seems, its worlds above the older SAWs. it still required a little bit of work right off the bat but mine has been chugging along for 75,000 rounds now with the stock internals. i replaced the bucking and the box magazine, but that's all.

That is a definite possibility. I've not personally handled one of their MK43s, but the M249 I had was, as you say, a shit sandwich with a side of fail. It does sound like the poor box mag issue persists though.

I know Ares M4s are also problematic, as Ares shares a trait with King Arms- can't measure for shit. Off spec receivers, (meaning no new gearboxes), proprietary nozzles, shit gears and janky wiring all afflict the Ares M4s I've handled.

I think it comes down to Ares wanting to be like G&P: a little different(receiver threads, barrel threads) but good enough to totally make it worth buying different. Problem is that Ares did different but forgot to do the good part.
