why are women generally drawn away from airsoft?

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

Weren't Tami and Carrie talking about an IDF team at one point?

If there was an all girl team or something close to it I am sure we would see more female players.

I think the key to starting one would be finding a charismatic leader who is willing to put the time and energy into making one.

I for one think it would be rad to see an all girl team, and would step up my game so I wouldn't get schooled by them. :p

I think the reason you don't get more girls is because there are few gentlemen in airsoft and a huge lack of propriety. The language, prevalent vocal sexuality, and general lack of public self-control by players of all ages means that the airsoft environment is hostile and uncomfortable for most women.

I agree, the treatment of ladies I have observed is embarrassing.
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

Wait...wait...wait. Just to clarify, on weekends, sometimes, you get to sleep over at your girlfriend's, but if you don't go knitting with her, she makes you sleep on the couch?

That's seriously messed up. At 17, there should only be one thing on BOTH of your minds if you get to sleep over.
RIGHT! like watching a chick flick ('cause you're a gentleman) and baking cookies; then cuddling up on the couch and enjoying each others company (eating said cookies) until the movies end (maybe share a kiss or two ;)); finally going to your respective rooms, anxiously awaiting the coming dawn which promises the presence of your dearly beloved!

...right?...guys?...aww... FOREVER ALONE.
Forever alone indeed haha
but she's pretty good at holding out on me if i don't want to go to said "knitting circle" or go to the mall, or play darts, or practice making sandwiches, whatever it is women do.

I personally like hanging out with you guys, but I'm wierd like that and have always gotten along with guys better than girls.

That being said, most of my other gal friends hear about my airsoft hobby thinks it sounds cool, but you guys pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to the main reasons they don't come try it:
1. They don't want to get hit/hurt (or they're just not that in to guns and military stuff)
2. They're scared off by your guys' sense of humor. I think it's hilarious, a lot of other girls don't.

And one that hasn't been covered.

3. Boyfriends (if they're not in to airsoft).

Some girls I know are really interested in/want to try/get in to airsoft, but it causes friction with the boyfriend/husband/whatever. I kinda disappeared for a while not so much because it really caused problems, but I felt "bad" - it can be a little difficult when you're a girl saying "hey, I'm going to go hang out with a bunch of dudes. Never slept with any of them, but a lot of them would given the opportunity. Have fun while I'm gone honey!"

Adam(Commiehunter) has a valid point on this topic. Due to airsoft being mostly a male thing, people talk about woman/girls a lot differently than they would at school/work, or anywhere else that a female population is larger. On the other hand, guys are gonna tell jokes and do other shenanigans that the average girl isn't fond of, so we all figure that the best place to do such things is at an airsoft game/event because it is usually 95%(or more) guys that play airsoft.

@ hushpuppy- Out of all the things that your gf could be into, you guessed darts. Maybe that's why you sleep on the couch at her house. ;)

Also, the majority of the time, women that do attend airsoft events are generally someone's girlfriend/wife. So, no need to impress/censor myself/etc.

The last time Dan held me I got a rash.

I have this rash right now all over my genitals from sleeping in my bed after the bed bug guy sprayed it.

It's horrible.

Like I said, women are mysterious.
But there is that strong possibility that I may be wrong...

Are you sure it's not the bed bugs themselves? Or maybe of something... similar?

Yep, we definitely were. Even came close to launching it, but life intervened. Maybe Carrie will meet up with some local ladies in the Marines, and I find some moms to bring along once my knee heals up. :D
