I must have done something wrong...

Postby dod_rules » Wed Jan 04, 2012 10:15 pm

Ok, sooo, I got my first aeg in the mail today; an AMG mp44. The stock spring in this gun is way too powerful to play at oregon airsoft arena, so I did some research, watched some videos, and was pretty confident that I could replace the spring by myself. I had gotten inside the gearbox and everything was going ok. I didn't want to mess with anything but the spring, but the anti-reversal switch, and trigger came loose while I was in there. So I messed around with those for a while with a bit of trouble but eventually got them back to their proper places (I think), replaced the spring, and put everything back together.
However. upon reassembling my gun and test firing, it seems that I did something wrong because the gun will not fire! It vibrated a little bit, the battery made a kind of little puffing sound and the wires got a bit warm, but that's it...

So guys, is my gun hosed, or what? Any ideas/suggestions on what I did wrong?

I realize that I took it apart... And I obviously am in a bit over my head, but it's a bit late to turn back now.

Can I please get a response from someone who can actually provide some useful insight, and not a 15 year old just loling and insulting me?

I'm no genius, but I reccomend going back and checking the anti reversal switch to make sure its placement is proper.

Indeed, and I feel that a little more information would be nice.

It could also be motor lock. Where did this "Vibration" come from?

Oh god, the terrible advice and commenting in this thread.

Just take it to an experienced tech, or ASONW, because you need more practice before working on AEGs.

I've got it back down to the gearbox right now, and when I try to fire, just the motor vibrates a little bit. This so called motor lock may actually the problem then? How would I fix that, if it were indeed motor lock?

The AONW idea is a great suggestion, Whenever i have problems with my guns i give them a call, Usually they can give you some idea of what may be the problem, If its easy enough to fix yourself then do it, Otherwise they do repair/tune up work for 40$ an hour i think.

Yeah, I may just do that. I'm gonna get inside the gearbox one more time and see if there is anything glaringly wrong, but if not, then I'll just have them fix it probably..

Reinstall the spring*. The spring is in a state where it's completely decompressed, and the motor doesn't have enough power to pull it back.

Also, I agree with league here. Take it to aonw when you can't figure it out.

Advice wise, I'm honestly pretty inexperienced with AEGs, except for the motor lock issue. I don't judge many people with what advice they give, as anything can really help in some way.
*That's how I fixed my motor lock issue...

There's several reasons why a motor could be locked and to be honest I doubt that's what his problem is, so your solution is not an end-all solution for problems like that.

Lol the mods are bigger trolls than us 15 year olds.

They're also smarter, and usually only "troll" when 15 year olds ask retarded questions or say something stupid.

+1.

This is a true story.

Quick question, What are the other causes of motor lock? Post links or send me something, I'm just curious.

Enough arguing and advertising. Consult a person or business whom are experienced technicians, AONW is a good idea and all but I'm not paying them 3x as much as I could be paying a local mechanist for a quick simple issue. If however you don't know local mechanists in your area, yeah contact a specialised airsoft AEG tech.

As far as your issue goes- I have no clue whats wrong with it, but one of my friends (against my advice) also took his CA M249 apart to try and upgrade it himself. If you figure out whats wrong let me know.

Well, I just took the gearbox apart again, and it looks like I put the piston in wrong! I have yet to put it all back together, but hopefully I found the problem. I'll try again tomorrow.
