Some Friendly Advice?

Hello all. I'm very new to Airsoft and frankly, I'm totally lost when it comes to picking up my first AR AEG. For lack of a better term, I'm a total N00b. That being said, I'm far from being a N00b regarding what I want, which is an M4A1 CQC/CQB with RIS. Up until I read through Nightshade's post Guide to AEGs/Electrics (READ ME FIRST!) I was convinced of what I was not only going to buy but really, really wanted. Sadly however, it was the last thing I wanted/needed which was this thing, a licensed Cybergun. So, back to the drawing board eh?

Anywho, as I mentioned above, I want an M4A1 CQC RIS AR and a USP for a sidearm. Any and all suggestions are very welcome, money really isn't much of an issue (thank GOD for taxes!) However I really don't want to sink more than say 400ish into the AR and perhaps more than say 200ish into the sidearm.

In closing, please forgive my N00bishness, all I ask is your help in better understanding what this or that is, why I would want it over something else, etc., that wasn't already covered by Nightshade under the original post. I suppose you could turn this into a wishlist of sorts given the criteria and have fun eh?

I would recommend a KWA USP .45. My cousin has the KP45 Tactical and it's a pretty good pistol, there's nothing wrong with it.

As for the M4A1, KWA is a good choice if your looking to keep it stock, but they are sometimes finicky when you upgrade them.

There are always less expensive alternatives, but it really depends on what you're looking to do. Do you want to get a fantastic gun and play? Or are you looking for a decent gun you can put attatchments on or customize?

G&G makes good cheap M4s. I think they make one that looks the same as the on you posted. The short Raider.

Could you be a tad more specific when you say "they are sometimes finicky when you upgrade them"? Sorry about that, however I've got nothing to go off of in regards to what's good and what's not aside from Nightshade's post and those lame plastic things you find in random sporting good stores.

Essentially, I'm looking for an AR that could easily go from field to CQB/CQC and back again so that I don't have to seriously consider an MP5 right now for strict CQC. As for attachments or customization's, I think honestly I'm looking for a decent scope and a maglight attachment for nightops and that's about it. I've never been much of a fan for laser pointers or night vision attachments, they always seemed to add way too much weight to the weapon and never really aided me much in what I was doing with it.

In the end, and something else I should point out, is that my desire for the M4A1 with requested setup is based upon my real-world experience with it. I fell in love with it right off the bat and was deadly accurate with it, not that an AEG will mimic accuracy that much, but it's just me I guess.

Thank you Icepick, I really appreciate your input here, you've helped me out immensely and I think your suggestions here are more than adequate for my needs. If anyone else would like to chime in here, I'm very much open to your suggestions. Sadly, most specs don't mean much to me at the moment as I don't even know the first thing about adjusting the hop-up for example...

KWA's USP series is nice and I love mine. I have the USP Tactical full size. As for AEG, KWA's have risen and become an awesome brand. Wait for a couple weeks and their latest offering will be available. Can't wait myself for their GBB AR's...

The good news is that I'm not going to be making a purchase until the 2nd week of Feb, so I have a couple of weeks to make a choice and settle on something, although I'm still very impressed with Icepick's initial suggestions, but I'm still looking into all suggestions so I can meet up with you guys on the field sooner instead of later

Over a KWA or CA or G&G... The KWA USP isn't a bad choice though.

Check out the KWA SR7 Devgru for the M4 RIS CQB. The other good one in this category is the G&G Top Tech TR16 CQB-R.

With KWA, they're designed to perform with stock parts. Guys who like to tune their guns find that something built more to 'normal' works with aftermarket parts like they expect. KWA outperforms everything else with stock parts, but when you start changing parts, you get different results than you might expect. Add a tightbore barrel and/or new hop-up bucking and it'll shoot perfectly. If you start changing the cylinder, gears, cylinder head, or other parts, you'll find that since the new parts weren't matched by an engineer, they don't always do exactly what you expect.

With Top Tech, as long as you don't modify the gun you get a 2 year warranty, which is awesome. They perform well and are ultra reliable.

hey i agree with every one saying go GNG or kwa, but cyberguns arnt terible i have the 60th aniversary ak, as my back up and i love it, so do some more recerch but honestly go GNG they are just as good as kwa if you dont mind a poly body for a lot less money then you could by upgrades as you see fit.

On topic, G&G makes great AR platforms. The cheapest you could go is with their combat machine models, and they do make one for CQC, it just has a shorter barrel. Minus the delta ring.

I have 2 G&G m4's never any problems, they are a great bang for the buck gun. want higher grade? G&G also makes a top of the line model...top tech?? correct me on name. KWA is great but can be finicky all around.
Basics: ALL replicas will go down, all can be upgraded, you will ALWAYS want another one, you can always sell yours and get new one. I would go with a medium grade then upgrade when you are ready then turn it into your back up and buy a new one!! you wont want a CQC gun unless you play indoors a lot, i would go full size, i do have a short one but not full CQC.
I also have a KWA USP full size. The low down of pistols: It will always just sit on your hip for show, you will only use it when youget bored or your primary goes down, but yet they are still a loadout neccesity!!

I always thought Classic Army's UAC was a cool option, mostly because I like flip-up sights on M4s.

It may not be as short as you want though, but I suggested it just because you could grow to like a moderately longer barrel..

Lots of the gameplay around AP (personally everything I do) is outdoors, and I don't know if you'll even be competing with a CQB legal FPS rifle or spring swapping regularly, so why limit yourself with a shorty barrel?

In short, maybe you really want a normal M4. Just an idea.

Anyways, I think the UAC is cool, personal preference. The KWA SR7 is definitely a sweet option and something I've thought about too.

If you do indeed want the barrel short for indoor play, you'll need to de-tune the KWA and Top Tech with a softer spring, but that's cheap and no big deal.

And the UAC looks the most sex.
