JG gearbox fix?

Postby Nimrod » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:52 pm

A few months ago my jg s system took a dump after and I'm thinking its either the trigger switch or a gear failure. So I'm looking for suggestions from people who've had jg gearbox problem. Should I take it to a gun tech or should I get a drop in gearbox?

THose are 2 pretty easy problems to fix, why spend the money on a whole new gearbox? Find a tech in your area (or man up and do it yourself) who can fix it.

You tube classes. Look up version 2 gearbox tare down videos, or look up your gun specifically, and break it down. Take the money you were going to spend on a tech and upgrade the entire box. It's not that hard, usually trial and error. Sometimes takes ally of tries your first time.

Most likely problem in my experience, which is fairly extensive with JGs, is the trigger post broke. I would look at that first.

Sorry for the lack of info in the op. My question was aimed at people who have experience with JG gearboxes.I was fireing full auto and it just stopped working (checked no jam) then I got one shot off on semi and after that nothing. The motor still works. No fuse but it has a mosfet.(does that matter?) I'm thinking it might be a gear or the trigger post. So I think the gearbox is where my problem is. I have read about people having trouble getting jg gearboxes to work properly after they have replaced parts. I don't think I want to do it myself (youtube help or not) having never opened up a gearbox, and with 3 kids at home I don’t have a lot of free time to devote to such a time consuming project. So I'm wondering would it be better to spend my money on a tech who (problems fixing JG gearboxes sited earlier) may or may not be able to fix it. Or should I just spend my money on a totally new gearbox since mine is almost 2 years old?(once again something that may have been useful in the op)

A gearbox can stop working for any number of reasons. broken gears are usually preceded by some gawdawful screeching, after which the gears still meshing with the motor will spin freely. If broken teeth are jammed in the gears you'll still get a motor click as it tries to turn over.
If you're getting no motor noise at all then you can likely rule out the gears as the culprit. the issue will be electrical. possibly the connections, trigger switch or mosfet ( these do burn out occassionally), or motor itself.
I'd be happy to take a look at the gun for you sometime if you'd like. send me a PM if you're interested.
