Tobacco Loadout?

Postby Geoffrey » Thu Feb 23, 2012 2:52 pm

I am posting this under tactical equipment only due to the tight connection between tobacco and the military throughout history, rather recent wars. I am not saying that I intend to smoke, or need to, although I do enjoy a good cigar every once in a while... I am just trying to get a better sense of the community. A lot of individuals think that people who play airsoft are super young(15-16 Y.O.), however, I have found that the vast majority are over 18, if not 21, and take this sport very seriously... thus the following questions arise:

Do people smoke at airsoft events?
Is there a smoking section, or do people just go about with a cigar/pipe while playing?

I ask this only to get a better sense of the community. I know some events are overnight and have campfires and what not, I am just curious if people smoke or drink LEGALLY?

I know, this might be silly, but I am just curious.

****** This pertains to those of legal age of course.

Yes, some people smoke at Airsoft events. It's not advisable in the field during fire season for obvious reasons. But people do occasionally smoke in the deadpool or the parking lots. As for drinking, at campout events people over 21 do drink, however it depends on the field. Some fields do not allow alcohol for liability reasons. When you turn 21, check the event rules before you bring any booze with you.

I only smoke when i'm too out of breath to make it back to spawn and need to sit and take a breather cause my left arm is hurting and it feels like someone is sitting on my chest. That's when a nice long smoke break is the best :)

But i take more care when it's dry out, to no smoking at all in the field, to dowsing it with water heavily and field stripping the smoke.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

It's always fun to roll up in the ambulance for a chest pain/shortness of breath and you see someone puffing away...

I occasionally smoke, and when I do, it's ALWAYS at an airsoft event. If you are old enough, no one cares. Be smart enough to not blow smoke up peoples asses (or in their face).

I smoke cigarettes mainly, but I've smoked my pipe and cigars at games. I find it calms my nerves and makes it easier for me to take in the entire situation (also, I like to smoke, so sue me). The only reasons I usually smoke at breaks is because the smoke gets in your eyes when you try to shoot and it makes a nice cloud of smoke showing where you are. If, however, I'm in the mood to fire from the hip and stand out in the open (which is often) I frequently light a cigarette up beforehand.

Also, don't smoke, it's bad for you and gives you a wonderful cough as well as will kill you.

I always see people smoking at the spawn points, but not when out running around and doing something. But otherwise the amount of smoking that I would assume would be present is much lower than I thought.

Needless to say, I always carry a pack with me, even though I don't really smoke. Fantastic bribery tools for the smokers out there when they inevitably run out

I'm one of those "younger guys" (will be 17 in 2 months) and I can say that a few of my teammates smoke some really nice smelling cigars. I have no problem with people smoking at airsoft events, however I don't like it when chainsmokers hover over me and touch my guns making them smell like tobacco (our local tech is a HUGE chainsmoker).

And as for smoking during a game, go for it! that is if the field allows it. A few guys at my field cut holes in their masks so they can smoke mid-game. Just don't be a prick about it

I always suspected there is a good amount pole smoking at events...

I seem to smoke anytime I'm in camo, whether its for the Guard or at airsoft. A pack fits nicely in your shoulder pocket ;)

This is actually the real reason people started modding BDUs with pockets on the shoulder.
