if you want to smoke, its your business. when you make it someone else's business IE when you cause it to become a pain in someone else's side or when it becomes a safety issue (fire) then it will become an issue. I get real hacked off when I tell someone not to smoke out in the playing field due to fire issues in the Summer and then I find butts or catch them smoking. That will cause my field or others to become a no smoking venue real quick. Be responsible with your habits, smoking or drinking and there will be no problems. Sadly some cannot seem to grasp this concept and remedial action becomes necessary. One of the best bass fishing holes I ever had was lost to me and everyone because of some dipwad who tossed a cigarette and started a fire.

I smoke at events, but only in the spawn area / parking area / area where smoking is permitted. I also keep a couple of freezer ziplocks in my cargo pocket, because I can't break the habit of observing litter discipline, and don't want to reek of stale half-smoked cigarettes any worse than I already reek from stale cigarettes and man-sweat.

On a semi-related note, I pack my Red Bulls in individual ziplocks. That way, when I pull one out of a pouch and drink it, I can put the empty back into the ziplock, shove it in a pouch or bag, and not have to worry about sticky crap everywhere. And if the can quits before I can drink it, it leaks into the ziplock rather than my pocket / pouch / pack (because you only screw that up ONCE).

I'm not saying that I've ever sucked a blown-out can of Red Bull out of a plastic baggie. (That doesn't mean it hasn't happened. It just means that I'm not admitting to it. I was young, and I needed the money...)

For real?
Do any Vests/Tactical gear have cigar tube holders?

Maybe take a look at the chem light shields. They are a hard shell and would probably fit and protect a cigar nicely.

I smoke my pipe in the field on occasion, but I don't ash it unless its completely out, and even then I try to find some gravel or something to dump it on. Starting fires is a very bad thing.

If I ever smoke in the field I I stomp it out and bury the butt. But I really do like the idea of carrying a ziplock bag around. I will start doing that.

Remember, there's a difference between being a smoker, and being a pyromaniac. Not all smokers are idiots. Part of being a big kid is putting out the fires you start.

The way we did it was a mentos tin in a ziploc bag. Use the tin as a portable ashtray, put your butts in there, put the tin in the bag in case you have a blowout. Keeps it pretty clean.

Also, a tin of Partagas Prontos fits nicely in a BDU blouse upper pocket.
