Condor Quick Release Plate Carrier

Postby Lukens » Thu Mar 15, 2012 4:45 pm

Im thinking of ordering this plate carrier:

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE338-1.html

Been looking at it for a while, and was wondering if anyone else had bought it, and what their experience with it was?
It looks pretty tight around the neck area, Im worried about chafing. Im also a smaller person, 5' 10" but only 130 lbs. Good sized shoulders but not a lot of chest. any opinions here? Any other plate carriers you would suggest?

I currently run a MOLLE LBV, it works great, but Id like to get a better look and fit with a plate carrier, not to mention take some load off my shoulders.

I have one and I love it. No problems with it at all. I'm 6'2 250 and it's is short on me. Fits fine it just lacks some length. If you r wanting a new plate carrier get this one!

I think those of us in the 6'0+ range are always going to end up with short PCs.

There are numerous other carriers that are a lot better than Condor for cheaper. Check out Pantac or Flyye, they've got some great stuff.

That PC is pretty big on big people so you'll be swimming in the damned thing. I'd suggest something much smaller like a JPC or FAPC clone.

Or, for just a bit more...

http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com ... rrier.aspx

I had one of these and I loved it. Fit me perfectly and was super comfy. Only sold it because it didn't fit my SEAL impression. The internal MOLLE is great for putting small things like a radio pouch or some shingles for spare mags.

Whatever one you do get (get the Banshee! You'll love it!) be sure to make/buy dummy plates for it. It makes me a super sad panda seeing people buying a plate carrier, but never actually putting plates in it. The main reason however, is it helps with the fit and function of the PC. Dummy plates can be had for $36~ of AEX for a set of front and back, along with side plates. Or you can use a cutting board (someone said that you can get them dirt cheap at Ikea), kick boards, layers of cardboard, or even wood if you're feeling so inclined.

Yeah, Strike has some of the cutting boards in one of his PCs. He said they were like $1 each and fit well.

Right now I'm using a mixture of cardboard and plastic sheeting to keep rigidness.
Without something to act as plates, the PCs look/fit like shit.

I have to agree with Jewish Ninja, I just bought the Banshee PC and it is fantastic. I'm 5'10'' 200lbs and it fits me perfectly and its real comfy. I have 10 mags on it, a SERPA holster, a triple pistol mag pouch, radio and a hydro/back pack. Real balanced and easy to ware. But like Jew said, put plates in it. I made some out of about 6 layers of cardboard and then wrapped that in duck tape, works wonderfully.

The $135 price tag is definitely worth it. Word of caution though if you do order it, call them to place the order and make sure they get your address right. They sent mine to Texas before getting it right.

Cheers.

I had a Condor MOPC last year. That thing rocked. Fit well and was comfortable. I got it for $40. I think they are $70ish retail. It's hard to beat it for the price. Sold it because I am working on some Russian impressions.

THanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated. I ended up buying an IBA off of Big red for cheap, and put my tac vest over it. It looks awesome with the neck guard and hopefully soon to have deltoid pads. I just wanted the stiffness and support a plate carrier gave, and now i got it! plus, i dont have to re-thread all my damn molle.

Oh, used. Comparing apples to apples though, I doubt you'll find used condor is more expensive than used flyye or pantac, though. Still I found that to be a misleading statement.

Ugh, I was at Ikea a couple days ago and I didn't think to pick some up for my JPC. Once I get some, I'll see about getting them to bend a bit and I'll put together a tutorial.

I don't even know if there is one for 6'3.
I have a condor MOPC right now and even with the shoulder pads pretty extended, it still sits pretty high. Like above my belly button.
