KWA SR10 really that good?

Postby Goliath17 » Sun Aug 12, 2012 11:06 pm

I have been hearing a lot about the famous KWA SR10. My uncle, who has been airsofting for 8 years, says its the best M4/M16 on the market. Someone else told me that its THE best gun on the marker. Is it really all its cracked up to be? If so, then I will definitely think about spending a "pretty penny" on one.
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

I have the SR12 and love it. It's big but nice. A friend has the SR10 and he wont look at anything else. Sounds sick with a 11.1 lipo hooked up to it. I would recommend getting the gun. It can take a beating.

In my experience it is probably the best gun, if you don't mess with it. A pretty penny could get you a gun that will never fail you
I still, however, belive that g&p is a better company even though its not even close to as reliable as a kwa.
my 2 cents ;)

Would not say it's the best, but it sure is a good one.

I'm failing to see how G&P, since it's nowhere near as reliable, can be a better gun.

I would go with the KWA.

In my world, I see KWA as buy it, leave it stock, have fun, hope nothing breaks. If/when something breaks, you're either buying OEM or replacing a bunch of stuff other than that stripped gear or piston or broken hop-up chamber. But hey, KWA is known to last forever. I've just read too many threads about the same gun having repeat failures even after being "fixed".

Moral of the story...

KWA=No easy upgrading besides barrel/hop packaging
G&P or 90% of other name AEG brands=upgrade the s**t out of them, perform at or slightly above the KWA with maybe slightly better reliability.

Keep in mind, KWA=Craptastic trademarks with nearly proprietary gearbox shells even(possible to install gearbox in a G&P, but requires mods).
Bye.

How about this for G&P: They tend to jam with the original air nozzle and hop-up unit. If you change the bucking, you'll probably need to change the hop-up unit, and bucking, and air nozzle. (If you have the original metal air nozzle).

KWA will accept any aftermarket parts you really may need to change the performance. For example, it will take any motor, almost any barrel or hop-up bucking, and most external parts other than the receiver. Inside the gearbox, you shouldn't need to change anything else, since they run better than most upgraded AEGs even stock.

You'll spend time and money trying to make a G&P perform as well as a KWA. In the end, most people tend to like what they have and what they've invested in purely because of their perspective. They want to think that it wasn't a waste to customize their good looking G&P. I'll give G&P all the points when it comes to trademarks and markings, but I've come to the point where pure reliability and performance are better than looks.

The KWA SR4-12 have the two piece hop up so the air nozzle, hop up, and lower and upper are made for the more realistic break top design. This differs from the sliding design of my Dboys SPR and G&G one piece hopup and sliding upper. However I see no difference in range when I compared my Bravo hopup in the SPR to my SR-10 Stock stuff.

The gearbox is a little weird with the 2gx re-enforcement, and torx screws, and ridged air nozzle that looks alot like a G36 one. (Since the 2gx KWA G36s came out with the SR's it might be the same)

Interms of reliability just keep it as a 9.6 or 7.4 lipo. It sounds evil and delivers hell down range with the stock low resistance wiring harness. Anything higher and at some point you will strip your piston.

My ONLY 2 COMPLAINTS with this gun are:
The fuse assembly in the back, which essentially makes it impossible to put another stock on it or remove the stock easily. There are two tiny screws that fasten it onto the stock. I got fed up with it and just snipped it off and soldered my deans on with the fuse gone. With that single modification to me it is now as easy to take apart as any other M4 and substantially better than most

The upper is not one piece it is actually three pieces with the rail separate from two halve that lock together to form the threads for the RIS and the rest of the upper. Odd design, that I am concerned about, but I have had no problems.

I noticed one of my JG/ECHO 1 uppers are like this after removing the RIS top.

It is out of the box a great gun. Most KWA are.

Obviously it is not the best gun, polarstar wins that.

But it may be around the top of the best AEG list.

I have the stock compression parts and hop up unit and a madbull red bucking. feeds perfectly, and im shooting around 40 rps. you might have gotten a lemon. I do agree that g&p is no where as near reliable as a g&p, but the externals are nice combined with ok internals.
