Getting a new gun

Postby laggard » Tue Oct 09, 2012 9:33 pm

Okay, I have an AK47 already. (Granted that it is a CYMA 028C) I am looking at a few different models of gun to take it's place on the field. I really want to try and stay with the M4/M16, for parts availability. I only have $200 to spend on the gun. Here are the ones I am looking at;

G&G M4 Raider- http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_237&products_id=10280

SRC M4 RIS- http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=408_411&products_id=7304

AMA AMR-4 CQBR- http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/4383-AMA-AEG-FM015-BLK-Airsoft-Megastore-Armory-Full-Metal-AMR-4-CQBR-Electric-Blowback-MOSFET-Enhanced-AEG-BLACK.aspx

AMA AMR-4 RIS- http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/4378-AMA-AEG-FM012-BLK-Airsoft-Megastore-Armory-Full-Metal-AMR-4-RIS-Electric-Blowback-MOSFET-Enhanced-AEG-BLACK.aspx

Please give me helpful feedback, and if you have any suggestions for a rifle, please let me know. I do want a RIS system.

Would def recommend getting a socom gear AEG if you can afford it. Has great externals, licensed as well, internals aren't bad either. I've had my Noveske N4 for awhile now and it's great. Madbull/Socomgear is a company you can't go wrong with.

My budget of 200 is just for the base. I have another $150 to spend on upgrades.

i would buy the G&G i've had mine for a while and put it through a lot and it's never failed me. I do suggest buying a nicely machined metal hop-up chamber though and maybe a higher quality barrel.

However if you buy a better base than you won't need all 150 for upgrades. The only upgrades I put in were a tightbore new hop-up nub and stronger spring. Cost $75 I think.

Jesus christ, how many of these "which gun should I get" posts we gona get? If your new and need a new gun on the M4 platform, just get a G&G raider of whatever size is you're preference. You cant go wrong with those. Me and Shadow both have them, and they kick a$$. They do everything you need them to do, and then do a little more. Theyre good quality builds, hard to break. Yes, some are plastic, but its good plastic lol.

If you were buying a car, would you limit your budget so you end up with a junky base, then go out and try and make it nicer with aftermarket parts?

As Nark said, if you get a better gun out of the box, you won't need as much budget for upgrades.

Take the SOCOM Gear PWS MK112 AEG for example. In the gearbox, this rifle is much more reliable than the AMA AEGs. Not fancy, but very precise construction. It also runs the crane stock for battery storage. As far as upgrades, it already has a MadBull outer barrel and Rail, which will be nicer than a G&G raider barrel and rail, and nicer than the SRC.

But wait, there's more! This rifle has a MadBull 6.03mm tightbore barrel already installed! That's $40 of your upgrade budget right there. It also includes a black metal PWS flash hider, so you don't have to buy a spare black one.

Seriously, a good value. Don't get too hung up on '$200 base + such and such for upgrades"

Excellently put! Put out for the slightly or more expensive base and you won't regret it. If you come to the Silverton skirm I'll let you handle my 14.5 Noveske and you can see how I mean.

The only reason I have to limit my self like that is, as bad as this sounds, my parents are buying it for me, and $200 is the most I feel comfortable asking for. I am sorry to bother you guys with a "What gun I should get" Forum. I just wanted to know from people who knew the weapons I was asking about. I might just see if I can pool my money with my parents to get a better base weapon platform.

It's alright. You said you have $200 plus $150, so I'd just explain to your parents what we did. Detail your plan, and the advice you got from seasoned players. Then buy a SOCOMGear. ;)

EDIT: Additionally, I have a Daniel Defense M4 by SOCOMGear. If you're at the game this Saturday, I'll let you tool around with it. I can also color your engravings for a couple bucks. :)

FINAL EDIT! In that last video you posted, Nark, he says the flash hider doesn't amplify. It certainly does, as I've been downrange of them with the hider on and off. You can't hear it very well when you're behind the barrel, but the sound is most certainly amplified and directed forward.

Might I recommend the KWA CQR, it has a KWA 2GX gear box, Half Polymer (not shitty ABS), half metal body. And is machined with KWAs high standards for only 189.99

This is my field gun and it has been very reliable. It has very consistant accuracy and shoots about 23 rounds per second with a 9.6v battery. Its all metal and, hey, its KWA so you don't need really any upgrades. Maybe some magpul furniture and a sight but that's it. You can put that extra $150 in to get this. Trust me its worth it. http://www.airsoftgi.com/mobile/product ... ts_id=2743. You can use one of their codes to get like 15% off. So that makes it like $250. Or, the new KWA CQR Mod 1 for $189.99 that I herd is pretty awesome
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

That's a good note re: savings trifecta bonuses. The rifle linked above can be found here, and with ten percent off is $234 w/ free shipping. Then you can put that crazy upgrades budget into buying a new chest rig, or a red dot, or a set of magazines.
