G&G Raider. *Update*

Hey guys, I have been doing airsoft for quite a while and I've decided to step it up a bit. I have had quite a few other guns such as the Aftermath AK and the Shadow Ops sniper rifle. I want to go more with the CQB/Field role. Do you think I should get it? Or get something else? My limit is 200$. I have looked at several other M4's such as the JG SSystem. What are the pros and cons to it?

Update: I think I am going to go with the SSystem, mainly because of its flip up sights, battery placement, and many tac rails. Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate the advice.

Be advised that CQB and Field guns are usually on the opposite end of the gun spectrum.

That said, the G&G Raider is a nice starter gun. If you get it tuned to CQB FPS levels you should be still relatively effective.

Thanks, but I was thinking that if i got the XL version i could simply use the adjustable stock. But have it as a full rifle as well when needed. Its around 400 FPS, and with upgrades I think it could be used for different roles.

The stock doesn't do anything. Except house a battery, drugs if you're bad, etc. Making the rifle longer through the stock, depending on your arm length can make it more uncomfortable to shoulder and thing.

Taking AP limits into the spectrum, field limits for AEGs is at 400, where CQB is 330-350. That's what dictates the areas you can explore when using your rifle. You can take a gun shooting 400 FPS in one area but not the other.

Anyways, I have a combat machine, it's okay. I use it, I expect it to go *pew pew pew* when I want it to, and yeah.

I've had multiple gearbox lock-ups happen, mostly on semi-auto and one of full auto. I've also had compression issues kind of easy fix, just threw things in and expected it to shoot better. No functioning forward assist that knocks everything back into place and things.

Also, long barrels suck in CQB. there's too much happening, you hit things with your rifle, and you hit children with your silly 14.5/16" barrel. I've been there. Just buy a rifle with a 10.5" or 10.3" barrel, and if you're not hitting your target on the field move up.

Any of the 'enhanced' JG M4s are excellent, and less expensive than a G&G. I own an S-System and I haven't modified the internals because there is no reason to. Best out-of-the-box field M4 under $200.

I own a GG raider blowback as my main rifle, have used it for the past year for over 10 events, if not more. Its given me nothing but its best. It has solid construction, and can take the hard knocks.

It always shoots. Ive never had a problem with it. Ever. It may not shoot the farthest or most accurate, but it WILL shoot. average FPS is 360 to 380, so its good for a field gun. With a new spring, it could be CQB as well, though not recommended, siting Hamster and his logic of using a shorter weapon.

Overall, I highly recommend it. Its good for newcomers and vets alike.

G&G is a good rifle.
Another one to look at is the Dytac Combat series 10.5" M4.
Aluminum receiver, 8mm precision gear box, all metal one piece hopup, H hub and 6.02mm Tightbore already installed for $200.

Either or. Just throwing another option on the table.

+1 to the JG. I've used JG extensively as a base for upgrades, as well as running them stock. They're solid, and the enhanced versions have Madbull Buckings in them. Throw on some deans connectors, buy a 7.4v Li-Po, and you're set! They work with every midcap I've thrown at them in the past.

The G&G combat machine is great buy. I own a total of 4 of them. They do perform out of the box pretty well. But If you want you can get a KWA Cqr mod1 or mod 2 for under 200.00 With this you get all the benefits of a true KWA with a cheaper price due to the polymer lower receiver and ported cylinder. They shoot 330-350 out of the box, and can take the abuse of a 11.1 lipo. I cant be happier with the pair I have.

Either choice is a good one.
