Glock 17 or P226/8 for ACE/ODA loadout?

Postby JoKeR1147 » Mon Apr 08, 2013 12:13 pm

Are both pistols pretty much used equally by CAG/ACE and ODAs/SFGs? Are there any other pistols they have been spotted using with some regularity?

P226s are (usually) only used by SEALs.

Glocks, 1911s or Berettas would be your best bet.

Army MPs have been known to use SIG P226s as well.

Army SF tend to use M9s and 1911 variants.
I know there were some pictures of Rangers using Glocks, so one would assume SF units have them floating around.

I'm sure someone with much more time invested into researching it can enlighten us more-so.

M9s are nearly universally hated by everyone, and SF and the Rangers are using the Glock 22 and Glock 23 as the standard sidearm. 1911s are pretty much out of the picture aside from MARSOC and MEU, and SIGs are a favorite in NSW and AFSOC.

I've tried looking for an airsoft glock 22 but can't find one anywhere. Any ideas on where to look? Or is my best bet just getting a glock 17 since they have the same dimensions?

The glock 23 isn't supposed to be full auto is it? For some reason the KSC model has a selector switch.

Not at all. A Glock 23 is just a subcompact version of the Glock22.

Thats what I thought. Does anyone know if the Glock 23c is considered milsim / fits this type of loadout?

Glocks are in Wide usage today with CAG, they used to use tricked out 1911s but these started to jam because of the fine sand in Iraq and Afghanistan. So they switched to glocks which have a higher resistance to this, but in the end it all comes down to operator preference and what is available. The most famous picture of CAG using 1911s is on the raid on Qusay Hussien in Iraq, the 1911s can be spotted on the operators hips.
