Just a heads up, that's not what ACU stands for. ACU = Army Combat Uniform as it is the cut of their uniform and separate from other branches such as MCCUU for Marines. Also, ACU may incorrectly be used as slang for UCP, but ACU is also the cut for OCP.[/quote]

hey thanks man. i assume that UCP is a uniform for another branch and so is OCP. or is that incorrect?

no sir. i acknowledge that i look to be as efficient as i can be, and that i value my private information. i apologize if that was confusing, though i am not sure how i could have been more clear.

i had hoped that clarity, efficiency, and the value of personal rights would help me in this community that demands honor and truth...are you telling me that i am mistaken? or did you just fail to understand?

all i did was request the help of the community to assist me in acclimating to the social environment.

there have been people that have definitely helped me understand things about airsoft and AP, but there seems to be a lot of negative responses to my post as well, that doesnt necessarily say, hey welcome to the community

i am not looking to fight or make enemies with anyone, but if im being antagonized im not going to roll over and take it.

im not looking to step out of line or piss off some of the well established members, but come one people, if you throw shit at someone, they might just throw some back.

the only way to get more awareness to the sport and get more people involved is to be a little inviting and encourage people.

idk, if im out of line here please let me know, if you have a logical and reasonable way of saying it.

As one FNG to another FNG, I don't know if this is what went wrong, but you did kinda set yourself up from the start by stating yourself a communications student/professional, and then rejecting and or ignoring the community's advice of straightening up your grammatical errors.

Also, while talking as an FNG to another, taking shit is what FNGs are for.

Just my take.

Actually you are getting shit because you don't care enough to proof read and fix the little errors in your posts. I don't give a shit if you use a program that capitalize I for you or not. You should take the time to be proud of what you post. We don't know you except for what you post. That means that with every post, we form opinions about you. To me, the fact that you don't capitalize words shows me that you are lazy. The fact that you know this, and still do nothing show me that you don't care about how you are viewed, and thus don't care about this community.

Wisenheimer: There really is nothing wrong with this community. People think that we view ourselves as elitist assholes who jump down the throat of anyone who comes in here. This is in fact very untrue. We foster a learning environment. We have a very good history with people from all ages. Ollie Twist was 13 years old when he first came on here. He started out rough but took our advice. He had a very long and happy tenure here. I'm drunk right now so I can't really think of others, but I know there have been many many people in the 7 years I have been part of this community. Someone comes in and asks a question, instead of just feeding them, we direct them on how to find the information they seek themselves (give a man a fish vs teach a man to fish concept). If someone comes here and wants to be spoon fed, how can we trust that they will read the event rules? How can we trust that they will call their hit on the field? Our opinions of each other are limited to what we see of each other here on the boards.

There is absolutely nothing in this world that is so important to post here that you can skip proof reading and proper grammatical form. You are just being lazy. Your term of "efficiency" is a fancy term for laziness. If you want people to respect you, care about your online image and take the time to make your posts correct. Otherwise we will continue to give you shit.

Also here is a link to someone who is not a communications professional, yet his very first post is light years ahead of yours...

sober up and reflect on what you said and how you said it...

"I'm drunk right now..."

your argument is invalid.

what is really funny is that the REAL intellectual world is laughing at your ignorance and hypocrisy.

I get the feeling that the "real intellectual world" doesn't give 2 shits about our little corner of life here. And just because someone has had a few drinks suddenly makes their point invalid? Well shazaam me sideways because I'm pretty sure the founding fathers were blitzed off their asses when they decided to go to war with the biggest military in the world...

I still stand by what I said (although I do admit it wasn't the most eloquent of speeches that I've given). You come here looking for acceptance from us as a community. We, as a community, have standards and expectations. One of our expectations is that anyone who post's here utilizes adult writing styles to include proper spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and structure. We are all adults, and have all attended school. We have all learned to write in a cohesive fashion. When someone comes here and makes multiple posts with numerous misspellings, run on sentences, no paragraph structure, or excessive "computer speak" than we attempt to influence them to change. Lack of adaptation to these very simple and rudimentary requests fosters negative feelings. To us (the community) it seems as if the person is lazy and does not care. This is not the kind of person we want here and in airsoft in general. That is the kind of person who will run around the cul-de-sac shooting pigeons with their AEG. Or the kid who sits on the roof and shoots the neighbor construction workers as they come out of the port-a-potty (that story was on here many years ago).

Look at it this way, making this little change does nothing to harm you, and in fact makes you a better writer. You don't rely on your word processor to catch your little writing mistakes. So it is up to you. Make the change and become a respected member of this community. Or stay the same and become one of the millions who have made less than 100 posts and than disappeared forever to be forgotten.

Actually, this is all normal. When I joined AP almost 7 years ago, the same shit was going on. People were reaming others for taking a shit on the English language and failing to use the search function/Google. The majority of players that are still on here realized that this normal and only really occurs online. Call it a hazing if you will for the new guys. Those that got past the online hate and came out to put names to faces and introduce themselves in a professional/not dingusey way generally made new friends and got more help/ advice than they dreamed of.

Far too much emphasis is placed on everyone being special/different/unique (look at all the threads of kids that want to be different on the field by asking a bunch of questions about a wacky gun no one uses). No one is a special unique snowflake. We are all the same decaying organic matter /fightclub.

If the new players that come here decide that they would rather not grow a thick skin and leave, so be it. Plenty of new players have taken input from those wiser than them and grown for the better. We don't host games to baby sit kids so why should we cater to that online as well?

AP is what it is.
If you come here looking for help with questions that can be answered with Google, you're gonna have a bad time.
If you come here with no desire to grow as an airsofter or person, you're gonna have a bad time.
If you come here with no ability to spell or construct a sentence, you're gonna have a bad time.

If you come here humbly, with the desire to learn and communicate with your peers in a clear and understandable manner, you're gonna have a great time.

Well I guess we should all hail the FNG the Grand Pu Bah of A.P. His advanced intellect makes it superfluous for to Him to use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
