Good plan--the extra half of an hour wouldn't be a deal breaker. I know one phase (can't remember which) still had players reloading mags when the game started! :o

I shot several people who were already dead, because they didn't have dead rags and they got lazy about holding their hands/ guns up so they just looked like live players walking around.

I agree that they should be mandatory. It alleviates confusion and increases safety.

Yeah ditto. I had to tell one of my own team to can it. He was sitting right where he got shot the first time, reloading with no death rag and was getting mad people would shoot him. I'm sure people on the other side were getting upset that he wasn't calling his hits.

Misunderstandings like that not withstanding, great game. Some of the most fun I've had at Splat Action.

We really need to keep an eye on the new kids though. At the beginning of phase two, a kid thought it'd be funny to blind-fire at my position while cowering behind a big tree. Really didn't help me stay calm after I had shouted "Do not blindfire" ten times (and I nearly walked up to the brat to pump a round or two into his face....)

The game was great either way, even though it was a bit hectic most of it had an awsome quality to it.

i did not like the constant "i hit you!" or "damnit go out i shot you!" even though this happened im still glad i went.

that and i won that CA M14, just awsome... first time i won somthing in ten years, seriously. :D

if we have another one im in

RebelPilot wrote:Also, the US team was cornered to start with at the very beginning of every phase. Our team deployment was choked by a bridge, on the lowest ground, every assault past Khe Sahn or the village was up muddy hills, and because of the field density you were guaranteed to get hammered.
Thanks!! that was the plan

I think RebelPilot summarized this well. We watched the missile system go by on its way to get deployed from the main village(nope it came from starlog). Could we get past the village, up the hill, into 75+ cartel players? Nope. Up HH? We knew our objective, but it seemed we were limited in our available responses. [quote]

If you own the hill you own most of Splat. I did my homework, used my previous experience and took a strategic position that would allow my guys the best tactical positions.... in short I loaded the deck for the Cartel players and did my best to keep it that way all day.
and as always Thank you to the Shooters....you know who you are. Without your continuous determination the day may have gone another way.

Great game! Lots of good action and kills, even though US/Brazil were pinned down hard both phases. guys were getting hit left and right next to me, we pushed up with like 30 guys. By the next 5 minutes, it was only me and 2 other guys. Cartel on the hill got the clear vantage point on us. And only one complaint about players not calling their hits and putting on their rags, for me even with my bright red rag on my head I was still getting lit up....

Great game guys. I am definitely sore as hell from all that running around. My camera is about as heavy as most AEGs and I spent the entire day running through the front lines getting great footage of you guys kicking a$$. I was covering the US side, with Bigfoot on the Cartel. The US/Brazil team really did put in a great effort, aside from the fact that Cartel was the clear victor. Both teams fought hard!

tool - we really enjoyed your crown royal. If you ever want to come out to an event again, bring lots of hard alcohol and then leave it out for us when you go to bed at 9 o clock... You're more than welcome! It's just too bad you didn't stay up long enough to see what an a$$ I was being. I'm sure you could hear me. I kinda feel bad for killing off your booze, but then again, I kinda don't.. hahahaha!

I'm super happy I won that Echo1 Master Series MP5, that thing is dead sexy. What a reward for shooting video at an event, at the challenge I won a bag of BBs. Somebody said, "what do you need those for, you don't even have a gun!" Well, I have 3 now! I've been thinking about setting up a combat photographer/video kit so I can actually run with a team while armed with a camera and a weapon but I needed a perfect compact weapon system for the job. The Master Series, with it's swappable 400fps outdoor gearbox would be perfect for that. I saw that it was from AONW, so if Ben is reading this, thanks for contributing to the raffle. AONW always puts up the coolest prizes for local events!

As for the issues I saw at the game, some of the same old stuff. Not knowing who's dead, medics running around tagging people in and people who get confused because they think those medic'd people are cheating, etc. I've always supported the idea of making death rags mandatory. The medic system seems like it needs some work. I witnessed a lot of medics running up and slapping bandaids on people as it it were a driveby medical procedure. The idea behind the bandaids was that you get to your patient FIRST, THEN you get the bandaid out of your kit, open the wrapper, apply it to the patient... So that it actually TAKES TIME to do it, but it never seems to work out that way.

Anyway - had a great time. On one hand, I still look forward to the next event at SplatAction, but on the other hand I'm also glad we have some other outdoor options on the horizon for this Summer.

I can say that most all of my guys from Southern Oregon had a great time at the event.

It was non-stop fun if you had some balls and actually made some aggresive runs. We kept seeing guys just huddle up before the villiage with out really much of an intention of doing anything on the U.S. side. I think one thing is most people need to get off their a$$'s a lot sooner at respawn. The couple times going back to respawn I swear I saw around 30-40 guys just sitting. "I just got to finish my Monster, then lets go" WTF?
More guys actually playing on the field would have helped lol.

Overall though it was sweet, most everyone was really getting into it torwards the end and we made a few good runs.

I liked the Admins everywhere to, and It was nice to see cameras going even though I made a fool of myself a couple times.

Thanks for hosting a kick a$$ event, if you do another like this be sure to count us in.

Oh, and one of our guys also got one of his teeth chipped by a guy 15 feet away. It's like half way missing.

All in all I thought it was a good game. There were tings left to be desired... Yes TOP I wanted a smoke deployed on the road between starlog and where our troops were pinned. Partially that's my fault for not relaying the correct coordinates but I was really frustrated when both my and Tompkins transmissions to not deploy smoke at the main village were ignored.

I don't know if Ill take a leadership position again in the future because, quite frankly I was so overwhelmed with people looking for direction or orders and then doing the exact opposite of what I said. I think I went through a total of 20 rds total. I also understand that a good deal of this is my fault because I could have jumped into the fray but I think if too many of our command had died things would have really snowballed downhill.

It is frustrating when you are trying to lead a push and as soon as someone opens fire everyone hits the deck or decides they need to hold up a tree. This isn't war you're not really going to die so knock them out and if you get shot, respawn.

The thing people don't understand is generally there are 3 to 7 people holding a position and when an entire of force of from 10-15 people push you WILL overwhelm and overtake them. yes you will take a few casualties but in the long run it us successful.

Dead rags should definitely be mandatory. I remember it was about a year ago that they began to disappear. I think its just a matter of people getting lazy. Ive said before that I take advantage of this and will just walk into enemy lines with my hands off my gun and get close enough to make safety kills or ambush the backside of a fortification. It generally ends up in me getting hosed but I think its worth it.

If you host again TOP Ill be there

You can probably buy enough of those red mechanics rags to go around for all those who don't have death rags for about $30 and pass them out at registration. At least that way nobody could say that they don't have one and then complain about being shot when already dead. One other nice thing is that it's something you can wave in the air when behind cover so those who didn't hear you yell "HIT!!!" can visually see a waving red flag. Just a thought.
Ultimately, we're all adults running around with toy guns. Let's keep it in perspective.

actually three. I got mine shot out in the night game by one of my teammates on bravo team, in full auto, blindfire. The back half of one my front teeth is missing. It still hurts like a mother still.

Good game Top. I really enjoyed it. A few things bothered me while playing, it seemed like most of the cartel didnt understand the concept of a BB hits you, call hit. I know that for a fact. I was up on HH trying to get to the missiles with Rebelpilot and a few men and we were under fire and we were shooting at the incoming cartel but they didn't call there hits. This Happened a lot. No one was calling hits. And what about support? We could have at least had "mortar fire" or "High altitude carpet bombing" It seem like most of the people I talked to in the spawn was saying something about Support fire or no hit calling.

On the up side:
Awesome objectives, really simple. Its just, we had to get there to complete them. Raffle was great, the scavenger hunt for the bottles was great, I never found one unfortunately. Weather was awesome. It made it more realistic and challenging, especially the wind. So Give this game
1 3/4's thumbs up.

Why not?

This sounds more like an expectation than any sort of limitation.
