Tight Bore Barrel and BIO BBs

Postby Keeper » Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:04 pm

I have used G&G .20 and now .25 BIO BBs. I have run literally 1000's of rounds through all my gun with them without issue. Granted, none of them have Tight Bore Barrels in any of them (yet), but I have have no problems in any of my weapons. I have seen mention of G&G, MadBull and TSD BIO BBs being used with Tight Bore Barrels without issue. I see a few fields require them now.

Recently my Squad Leader stated he is going to be spending almost $100 on a Tightbore Barrel for his G36 and will not run any BIO BBs through it.

Any opinions here on using BIO BBs with a Tight Bore Barrel? Any issues you have had?

we have several players here that use the airsplat brand brand bio as well as G&G bio ammo, aim top bio & matrix brand in 6.01, 6.02 & 6.03mm barrels with no jamming issues I am aware of.

I get very inconsistent feeding and accuracy of Bio BBs in my 6.01 barrel.

Not sure what other brands he tried running through it. I think it is a case of "In his Experience" type thing when it comes to BIOs. I have only been in Airsoft a year and he has been in it 6 years.

I am getting a Tightbore for my Echo1 MP5, so I will let you all know.

FWIW, My Wa Shaun M1934 only seems to like the airsplat bio's. I think its a 6.01mm. My KWA G19 has a unknown brand 6.04 barrel, and it does fine on anything I shoot through it.

The barrel is a Dee's 6.01

The brands of Bio I've run through it are Airsplat, Bioshot, Airsoft Elite, and G&G.

G&G and Bioshot are decent, but still perform noticeably worse than those brand's comparable non-"bio" BBs.

Our faster (RPS not FPS) running weapons get a build up in the barrel of whatever it is that coats the bio bb's. This will, if left alone, cause a jamming issue in our KWA's(most have stock barrels) within a single game. One of our guys had to buy a 6mm bore brush to clean out the gunk. I assume after time, and no maintenance, our slower running guns will have the same build up. So the obvious lesson here is to bring a barrel cleaner of some sort to the game and expect to use it. No biggie really, unless you have to sit out a huge portion of the game due to not knowing this would happen if you run some brands of bio's through your hot rod.

The other problems I have experienced are shot consistancy and spread pattern. I too suffer from feed problems with bio(not so much that it happens every other shot, just at the most unfortunate times) and also my spread pattern gets worse with bio. This is just what I have experienced with bio ammo in my weapon with my eyes, others have either not noticed any issue or have none.

Maybe its my magazines that don't like the bio but I'm not spending extra money for specific mags just to shoot a sub standard round.

I wonder if moving from a standard .25 bb to a bio .28 bb would help with my spread pattern? F it, I won't be going to any bio only games for a bit anyway.

I think as long as you're not using that brand that IMMEDIATELY dissolves upon contact with water, you're ok.

Also, what tightbore costs $100?
