I am buying a tightbore for my m4 soon. and I am thinking about buying AK length and I was just wondering what that would do for me.

Depends on if it is longer or shorter than the stock barrel...But I don't know why you would do that.

There will be no noticeable difference between a AK and an M4 length tightbore, plus that means you have to buy a barrel extension of some sort (most people use a silencer).

I'd advise just going with a Madbull M4 tightbore barrel.

Check out this Sticky regarding barrel length.

Actually a stock M4 is generally 363mm and an AK is 455. That's a BIG difference. With the longer barrel you will see about 3 to 4 more fps, about a 5 to 7% increase in range and accuracy. I wouldn't put in a 6.03 unless you were strapped for cash. 6.01 is a big jump in performance vs a 6.03. It may not seem like it, but it's been proven several times.

One thing about the Aluminum barrels that seem to be flooding the market lately. When you get a BB jam in an aluminum barrel and you accidentally fire one or two more rounds the barrel can warp. This is the reason several companies choose to use Steel or Brass. In addition the black oxide coating that is on most aluminum barrels can and will eventually flake off, leaving you with garbage.

Depends on witch M4 ou have . Most M4 carbines are 363 KWA how ever has a 397 mm barrel . I don't know why you would use an AK barrel for this gun . If all guns were the same they wouldn't make them different lengths . You need to read up on this matter first . If you put that barrel in that gun with that cylinder you will probably lose close to 100 FPS or get suck back . The cylinder and barrel are matched . If you change one the gun may shoot funny " ie low FPS " Also Airsoft GI has stainless steel 6.01 barrels for 45 bucks . Don't waste your time or money on aluminum barrels they wear out . There was a thread about this a few months ago . Re read it if you can find it , it has alot of good info for you . I'd look but I'm too lazy . Good luck wit that tho 8)

I think you're referring to this: http://www.airsoftpacific.com/viewtopic.php?t=31747

There is some faulty information (as discussed in the thread), but the concept is still the same.
For every action (Bang) there is an equal and opposite reaction (HIT!)

Yea that's it . We had low FPS from putting in a longer barrel and barrel extension on Skyhawks M4 . replaced it with the stock length gained it back. .

The trick is to try and make the cylinder and barrel air volume match, or to keep the cylinder volume slightly higher then the barrel volume. To make this as simple as possible, if you are using a M4 cylinder in your gun, you have roughly a air volume of 17193.024mm (measured with a digital caliper, accounting for cylinder head penetration and using the equation provided here http://www.mathsteacher.com.au/year9/ch ... linder.htm)
Now, if you take a stock 363mm/14.25" M4 inner barrel and measure it out (which requires a micrometer, since calipers are not precise enough at that size), you will find a wide range of differences in their inner diameter, but the average is about 6.10mm, so again, to use the same volume equation, you get a result of 10609.929165mm. This indicates a difference of 6583.094835mm, with the cylinder being larger then the barrel volume.
In English, this means that the BB is actually still accellerating as it leaves the barrel, so you have wasted potential velocity and range in this design. You can use a longer barrel with the stock inletted cylinder to provide more range, accuracy and velocity to this gun.
Personal experience with upgrading M4s with TBBs, I have found that upgrading with a 455mm length 6.01mm barrel will give the average M4 another 35-45fps, typically increase range by about 50-75' and cut your groupings more then in half for accuracy, so I would say just buy the barrel and go with it.

Whoops, for some reason I was thinking AK barrels were ~400 not 455mm. And I still wouldn't bother with a longer barrel because he would still have to change out for a proper cylinder and buy a silencer. :?

I would also agree that a 6.01 would be a better choice than a 6.03 barrel, but sometimes people can’t afford a $50 barrel, so Madbull barrels are a pretty good bang for your buck. And just BTW, I think Madbull fixed the flaking barrel coating with their V.2 barrels- although I’m not completely sure about that.

GI sells their own brand (Masaume) 6.01mm barrels for $39 for the M4 (no, they are not your regular 363mm, apparantly, they are for one reason or another, 370mm) and they appear to be stainless steel. I am not sure if this is the barrel that X was talking about, but i believe they are.
Please, I insist.

Well Madbull extended the life of the oxide coating, but it's science that it will flake off in about a year to a year and a half. They can't really get passed that. In addition, still no, you don't have to change the cylinder. You are going from a wider with a shorter length to a tighter dimension with a longer length. It will about balance itself out.
