G&P M120 motor vs Matrix Turbo vs Matrix Magnum

Postby CCCman » Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:50 pm

Hi all,
I have an m110 spring and standard gears. I'm thinking of buying a motor but not sure which. I saw the matrix magnum and turbo motors and they look great. I look at the types of springs each can handle but the m110 apparently works with both. Which should i choose? Would the g&p m120 be better the both?

Matrix Magnum- http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=29144

G&P M120- http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=25608

What do you want from the motor? High ROF or a good trigger response?

Motors aren't worth the money to replace unless your current one doesn't work at all. You won't typically notice a difference between two types of motors aside from the sound they make.

I notice a huge difference switching from a VFC motor to a G&P M160 and an even bigger one switching from a G&P M120 to a systema magnum...

I suggest getting an Element Max Speed motor. You can find them on Airsoft-Club and KHMountain.

ICS Turbo 3000. I've owned 4 and installed another 2 into guns I've worked on. They are almost impossible to jam and give good ROF but great trigger response.
For every action (Bang) there is an equal and opposite reaction (HIT!)

Go with the magnum. The G&P is pre-order only and the other matrix one is weaker and apparently generates a lot of heat.

Wrong, motors can be one of the most effectives upgrade you can get!

A good motor will increase efficiency (BBs/mAh), trigger response, ROF and decrease noise coming from the gearbox, although the noise reduction coming from replacing a motor has more to do with the pinion gear shape and how it meshes with the bevel gear.

There are much more to electric motors than just magnets.

Might I ask what type of gun and what brand this is for?

Buddy, you got to choice one or the other when you looking for a new motor. Unless you know how to take part motors to mix and match parts to your liking I suggest you pick ROF or trigger response (if you did you wouldn’t be reading this ;)) or willing to chuck out some big bucks, around $70-$90, for a [url=http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=&products_id=33342]“G&P devil jetâ€

Good explanation, NEC.
Personally,I like guarder inf motor alot, it is quiet & can pull a SP120-140 no problems with reasonable power consumption.
I have bought 3 G&P M120 motor, 2 of them broke for some reasons, but the last one works great with a M90 spring with really high ROF (on LIPO).
If I am going to get a 3rd AEG, I will stay with Guarder for sure.

If you want trigger response (very beneficial if semi firing), go for a high torque, the G&P m120 is not a high torque motor.

whoa, i failed at that quote, any ways, if u did'nt see my reply, i said
"I am actually building a gun. I just realized my shooting style is like the magpul dudes, i use semi most of the time and only auto when I'm like at point blank. Since i use semi, would fast trigger response come in handy? and if it does, would the matrix magnum motor be a good choice? I was gonna choose the g&p m120, but the thing about the soft pinion gear set be back since i don't have a tool for it, nor do i want to spend extra money getting git fixed. Is the matrix magnum's pinion gear stronger?"

You guys obviously don't stay updated. Systema recently (within the last month) came out with the AtoZ motor. I am interested to see how 'quiet' this motor is when properly broken in...
