Postby Dukky » Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:08 am

Ok so I have a KWA 2GX M16 thats completly stock except for a madbull 6.03 tight bore i put in.

My question is what more can i do to it to increase range, accuracy, and basically turn it into a DMR?

sweet thanks! I have no idea why this didn't show up when i searched it.

Edit: All of those posts were back in 2006 with older model KWA's. I'm looking for a bit up to date info taking into account the internal upgrades of the 2GX series.

Um... that thread RiotingCows linked to was started on Oct. 11, 2010.

For your OP, since you've already got a 2GX bucking and TBB, all you really need to do is fine tune it to what you want. Make sure all the compression is perfect, test with different BB's/weights, etc. What kind of performance are you looking for?

Define "Good" in numbers. Are you looking for 12" groupings at 50 yards? 70 yards? Torso shots at 80 yards with a little lobbing?

What is your effective range now?

AP rules says that DMR 450fps is MAX and SEMI AUTO only never can it fire in full auto. I have used that gun once and it was shooting 420 out of the box and could hit torso at 220 feet easy. If you play where rule don't apply you should be good to go. IF you want to play AP games you have to prove it can only fire semi auto only.http://jagprecision.com/store/bmz_cache ... 50x112.jpg This should work on making your gun a true DMR.

New nozzle with an O ring, maybe a new piston head, a nicer tightbore, and general tuning to the hopup and barrel stabilization. That'd mainly be for consistency though. My friends KWA SR10 doesn't near as well as a setup with a lonex hopup chamber, madbull blue bucking, and a lonex tightbore, same FPS and same bb's. I've had trouble getting madbull blue buckings to work properly though.

Actually AP rules don't account for any DMR. Semi/auto guns - 400 fps.

If you aren't already up at 400 FPS, you can bring it up to that velocity so you can use heavier BB's. .28's work best for 400 from my experience. You've already got a 2GX bucking and a TBB, so, like I said earlier, make sure all compression (Piston head to cylinder, cylinder head to air-nozzle, air-nozzle to bucking, bucking to barrel) is as perfect as you can get it. From there, just experiment with different BB's to see what gets you the best results.

Piston head to cylinder: Replace the piston head O-ring if you can compress the piston when the cylinder head is plugged.

Cylinder head to cylinder: If air escapes around the cylinder head itself, you can wrap the cylinder head O-ring(s) in telfon tape.

Cylinder head to Air-nozzle: If air escapes out the sides of the air-nozzle when testing for compression, an air-nozzle with an O-ring is a good addition.

Air-nozzle to bucking: This is more difficult than the others because it may require some custom modifications, and if done wrong, can cause double-feeding, or misfeeding. For now, as long as the air-nozzle goes about 1mm into the bucking, you should be fine.

Bucking to Barrel: Wrap the bucking in teflon tape to seal off any air that is escaping around the bucking.

What kind of performance are you getting now? Upgrading can only get the gun to a certain level. After that, you're just dealing with the physics of a plain sphere.

Blizzard, nice suggestions. I'll just add for the piston head, you want one with porting and put a light layer of petroleum jelly around the o-ring.
