What is being judged? Are there any prizes? What are the judging criteria?

Only spring rifles, does this mean a gas bolt action rifle can't apply?

Just springs this round. We are looking at a few others contest that will cover other types of guns from AEG's to GBB.

How do you know if someone started building today? I can post a picture of someone else's bolt from 3 years ago and say I just put it together. I think that rule is going to be hard for you to enforce.

Also, the spring-only rule is pretty arbitrary and pointless.

Well I have a stock VSR besides a spring and piston. Can that work as a stock gun? There is no paint on it or anything.

the point is. people with real experience like Bill and his "Deathstar" series of rifles....my scout rifle, or jesters builds are all dissqualified.

thats what Airsoftpacific.com has rate my AEG thread for though.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Your contest doesn't care if it's a functional rifle or not. According to what you've posted, it's about "uniqueness". To me, a unique rifle doesn't look like anything else out there. That will mean that those of us who take the time to build weapons that are meant to be fielded are out. I don't care what my bolt action looks like (ok, that's a lie, I love the smooth lines, and sexyness), but a competition for a unique gun will mean that something that is out of the ordinary will get higher points. Our hard work and hours of tuning to get a rifle that will perform as demanded time and again means little to this competition. We (or maybe just me) understand what you want for your contest, we/I'm just saying that it's going to hinder a lot of potential entrants who already built them, or built them to perform.

I knew my entry wouldn't work. I just love looking at it... :D

It does need to be functioning but how do you prove that a gun shoots more than 25 feet? If you know any editing programs you can make a 25 foot shot look like a 300 foot shot easy enough. This is not a contest for who can build the most powerful or accurate gun and never was meant to be...

-All pictures must have a card with the date on it of the picture to verify.
-Start your own thread here and document your work from beginning to end just a picture of the final gun will not fly

Would be hard to fake since you have to document the build as you go..
The spring only is for this contest we are looking at another one for Gas based guns in the future.

I changed it to allow minor upgrades so yes it would pass. Minor upgrades will include TBB, Pistion, Spring, Bucking, spring guide.

Maybe any internal upgrades should not count since the contest is based on the externals of the gun?

Good thought ....

-Internals can be upgraded to start but no external modifications can be made before starting... but please list the internals so we know what they are.

Thanks for the input... :D

Hard to justify putting out dollars just for a contest. If we spend money on a replica, it must have purpose. We build our rifles to perform, not to look pretty.

That is all.

Build it to look pretty, then upgrade the heck out of it.
