What's the advantage of Deans? (noob alert)

Postby kapow887 » Sat Jul 16, 2011 1:13 pm

I've been into airsoft for a while, but I have always been wondering what the advantage of installing deans connectors in an aeg is. Could someone please explain?

(I know what deans connectors are because I have been into rc cars for some time, I just don't know what their advantage is)

You have more contact area for the actual connector. This allows for more current transfer, and a better connection. They are also smaller and allow you to not have to worry about having an adapter for large-small/small-large.

Deans connectors like jester said have more contact area, since they have more contact area they make your gun shoot a tad bit faster, but nothing that noticeable.

i hear the "it makes your gun shoot faster" argument all the time, but i never noticed the difference. one of these days someone should see if they can actually prove/disprove this rumor.

the benefits i see to deans connectors is the size factor, and that's about it. yes, the larger surface area gives a lower resistance, but 99% of people wont notice a difference.

Also, for some people, compatibility helps. A few people on my team switched to deans(the techy type guys), then almost everyone followed...its nice because everybody can use the same batteries if someone runs out.

The main thing for me is that they are just so much smaller than Tamaya connectors.

they make your guns shoot faster and farther. They up your FPS by about 20 or so.
Plus they make you cooler.

I have also heard rumors that in Independent Japanese testing that they may also make you a better airsoft player.
